When I'm Famous
I've already made a tape
So when I'm famous you can hear
All the music that I made
During these un-famous years
I can see that you are worried
That I might not be the same
Will my eyes and mind get blurry
When the lights spell out my name?
When I'm famous will you love me just the same as you do now?
Will you still think better of me? Can I still come to your house?
When I'm famous will you still remember who I really am
When the world tells me I should be someone else?
My success is no big deal
Cause when we look it in the face
The only lesson that's revealed
Is that we didn't need it in the first place
But people can be funny
And they might cut off my hair
When they want my love or money
I need you to still be there
When I'm famous will you love me just the same as you do now?
Will you still think better of me? Can I still come to your house?
When I'm famous will you still remember who I really am
When the world tells me I should be someone else?
Can we live it so it's fun?
Fifteen minutes and I'm done
What goes up must come down
Will you still be around?
When I'm famous, When I'm famous
When I'm famous, When I'm famous
I know I'm taking a chance
And the reasons don't all rhyme
But we all put on our pants
Using one leg at a time
I hope it makes for a good story
Cause the glory is not mine
But at least it won't be boring
Will you join me for the ride?
When I'm famous will you love me just the same as you do now?
Will you still think better of me? Can I still come to your house?
When I'm famous will you still remember who I really am
When the world tells me I should be someone else?
When I'm famous, When I'm famous
When I'm famous, When I'm famous
